JAMMU, Oct 2: Department of Social Welfare celebrated senior citizens week in Nari Niketan premises at RS Pura where tiny tots of Bal Ashram presented a variety of cultural programme.
The inmates of Nari Niketan presented a thematic programme underlying the need for care of elders.
On the occasion, Director, Department of Social Welfare Jammu Dr Bharat Bhushan was the chief guest and gave away prizes to inmates who presented thematic and cultural programme on the occasion.
Supriya Kohli, Deputy Director, Kuldeep Kotwal, Deputy Director, Ajay Salan, Assistant Director, RS Jamwal, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, Superintendents of Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram RS Pura, inmates of both departmental institutions and other staff members were present on the occasion.
Dr Bharat Bhushan presented shawls to old ladies in connection with senior citizens week celebrations.
Later, gifts and eatables were distributed among the inmates and all those present on the occasion.
A pledge was also taken by all the participants about caring and obeying elders.
In the end, DSWO Jammu RS Jamwal presented vote of thanks.
