JAMMU, Sept 14: Under the patronage of Senior Citizens S S Club, Chowadi, a mega event of releasing three Dogri songs including a bhajan and a rap song was conducted at Abhinav theatre.
The bhajans are in the melodious voices of Bollywood playback Bhajan Smrat Anup Jalota and Sadhna Sargam whereas the rap song is sung by Kailash Kher. These Dogri song and bhajans were written by Padamshree, Mohan Singh, Yash Pal Yash and Brij Mohan, a noted music director of J&K.
Dr Kasturi Lal Gupta, Chairman, Senior Citizen Support SS Club, who had sponsored the whole event, expressed his concern on the declining state of Dogri language in our houses as well in the markets.
Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Deptt of Culture, J&K, graced the occasion as chief guest. He praised the relentless efforts of the Senior Citizens SS Club in promoting Dogri language and Dogra culture.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan, Director Smooh Theatre, had conceived the presentation of these songs on the stage in the form of dances.
Maj Gen SK Sharma, President, Senior Citizens SS Club, stressed that every Dogra family must feel proud of being a Dogra, encouraging their children to take Dogri as a subject in schools.
30 personalities of Jammu who are promoting the Dogra culture in their own way were felicitated. They include Monika Kohli, Sr AAG, Dr Sanjeev Gupta, Anoop Verma, Dr Om Goswami, Aarti Sharma, Sunita Jandial, Sourab Mehta, Dr Shafika Bano, Pratibha Priyadarshani Dutta, Neena Gupta, Rattanprabha , Reeta Khadyal, Rama Gupta, Raman Singh Slathia , Sunny Mujju, Dr Meetu Meania, Lalita Sharma. Indu Puri, Vanita Kohli, Hira Lal Abrol, Dr Pragya Khana, Sonika Mahajan, Rajni Sarangal, Neeru Puri, Amita Sharma, ,Rachna Sharma, , Gurpreet Handa, Usha Slathia, Sheetal Gupta, Dr Padam Dev Singh, Rama Gupta.
Brij Mohan composed these songs while Sunny Mujoo choreographed them with the blend of Dogri folk and classical forms. The artists who presented the dances were Sunny Mujoo, Amit Rana, Arun Dev Verma, Sahil Narwalia, Rohit, Suhani, Musrat, Suneha Angural, Palshin Dutta and Radhika Khajuria.
Lights were designed and operated by Pankaj Sharma and sound operated by Lokesh Chander, while Ravinder Sharma executed all the songs and videos. Dr Vijay Sharma, presented the vote of thanks.
