Seminar on ‘Rise of Drug Abuse among Youth’ held

POONCH, Apr 21: A seminar on the topic “Rise of Drug Abuse among Youth of Pir Panjal” was held at Mandi, here today.
It was held on the direction of M. Raju, Excise Commissioner and Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive S. Amarjeet Singh.
Excise Department in association with Youth Association for Service of Humanity and Nation organised this Seminar in order to create awareness among youth of the area.
The organisers said that the drug abuse is spreading fast in Pir Panjal area and from past few years many youth have died due to drug abuse in the area.
Inspector Excise Sub Range Poonch, Mohd Arif explained reasons behind drug addiction and consequences including health hazard, risk involved and penal provisions under NDPS Act.
Imtiaz Salaria, President YASHN (NGO) appealed to the civil society, parents and religious preachers in particular to come forward and create awareness regarding this menace and to uproot it from Pir Panjal.
While speaking Commandant 137 BN BSF Gajraj Yadav, prominent leader Taj Mir and Bar Association President Poonch Advocate Zaman, Advocate Iftikar Bazmi also appealed to parents to keep a watch on their wards and their activities on daily basis.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Pardeep Khanna,Varinder Singh Pawar ETO Rajouri Poonch, Farooq Ahmed Tanha, Mudasir Bhukhari, Hamid Nabaaz, Dr Mohd Qayoom, Dr Mohd Abbas, Mohd Farooq Khan, Abrar Akhter, Imran Gani, Mohd Pervaiz, Ruksar Akhter and Sajjad Ahmed.
