JAMMU, Mar 10: As part of increasing awareness among the stakeholders, a seminar on ESI Scheme was organized by ESIC Jammu and Kashmir Region Office at Bari Brahmna Industrial Association premises, here today.
Over 50 stakeholders representing employers / companies, Employees, Human Resources Executives including those of Idea attended the seminar.
This was the 6th such Seminar organized by ESIC Jammu and Kashmir.
Sunil K Mehto, Deputy Director, ESIC explained various provisions of Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 relating to contributions and consequences in defaults on compliance with the provisions of the Act. Sindo Ram, Deputy Director, ESIC gave an overview of all the benefits available to covered insured employees like full medical care, cash compensations during sickness or maternity of employees and benefits available to dependants of the employees dying in harness due to employment injuries.
Regional Director, ESIC Arvind Kumar explained various salient and unique employee friendly features of the Scheme.
He stated that several initiatives have been taken recently in consultation and cooperation with the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir, Department of Labour and Employment, to improve the medical facility infrastructures in Jammu and Kashmir.
Annil Suri, President, and Rakesh Bhatt, Senior Vice President, Bari Brahmna Industries Association, Bari Brahmna, attended the seminar. Mr Suri stated that the seminar was very useful as it made the stakeholders aware of several finer aspects of such a comprehensive social security Scheme.
