Selling IDBI will be resolutely fought: AIBOA

SRINAGAR, June 8: All India Bank Officer’s Association (AIBOA) today said that it will resist the Government’s move of selling the IDBI to the private sector.
Addressing a press conference here at SKUAST-K, S. Nagarajan, general secretary of AIBOA said that the office bearers of AIBOA held a meeting at SKUAST-K campus Shalimar where they resolved to launch a sustained program to educate the public at large on the role of public sector bans right from July 19 in building the national economy.
“In exercise of building the national economy, the role of the public sector is noteworthy and that the financial system today, a mix of deposits of Rs 155 lac crores and advance of Rs 110 lac crores, mobilized through bank branches of around 1, 90,000.”
He said that the public sector banks mobilized 44 crore accounts and Rs 1 lac crore under Jan Dhan Scheme.
“The present move of the Government to sell the IDBI to private sector/ players shall be resolutely fought by the AIBOA through sustained programs. Destroying the time-tested IDBI is unacceptable and the Government should refrain from the present approach,” he said.
