Srinagar, Apr 24: The selected Sub Inspectors (SIs) of Jammu and Kashmir Police today held protest demonstrations against the ‘undue’ delay in their appointment.
Scores of selected SIs said that their final selection list was issued in December 2018, but are yet to join the department since then, the delay, which they said has cost them precious time with added mental stress.

“The process is lingering since 2018 and we are yet to join the department. The selection for the posts has already consumed our three precious years as the process is going on since 2016,” said one among the protestors Ishfaq Hassan.
Pertinent to mention, the High Court had directed the Police Department to go ahead with the appointment process, but the process has not seen the light of the day.
“The PHQ, shortly after the revocation of stay from SI joining tried to seek the quick permission from State Chief Electoral Officer through proper channel but nothing substantial has been aired out so far because of unknown reasons,” Shoiab, another protestor.
He added that the DGP has directed PHQ to send an urgent reminder to concerned authorities “to grant permission for immediate joining of the selectees, but things are yet to be taken seriously by the Principal Secretary.”
The selectees have appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik, Principal Secretary Home to intervene into the matter and direct the concerned to issue formal appointment orders.
