JAMMU, Feb 24: Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today had a meeting regarding review of Annual Action Plan 2020-21 for three districts of Reasi, Ramban and Poonch under MGNREGA programme.
The meeting was attended by Director RDD, Jammu, Sudharshan Kumar, Director Panchayats, Mohammad Rafi, Additional Secretary, Rakesh Kumar Badyal, Assistant Commissioners (Development) of the three districts besides other officers and officials of the department.
A threadbare discussion was held on activities to be taken up at grassroot level to ensure that the benefit percolates to the eligible beneficiaries.
The Secretary laid a special emphasis on creation of sustainable assets and generation of person days (PDs) while finalising the Annual Action Plan under MGNREGA for FY 2019-20. The works as formulated in the annual action plan and later approved by the authorities will remain the focus of development works for the FY 2020-21.
Secretary instructed the officers, while formulating and finalising the plan, to ensure that 60 percent of the total works should be taken up under category A (water-related projects) and almost 10 percent works should be taken up under category B which deals with vulnerable sections. She also instructed the officers to inspect the works in their respective districts regularly. She also insisted upon the concerned officers to ensure installation of CIBs at prominent places.
She further exhorted upon the officers to adhere to guidelines strictly while formulating the plans. She also reviewed the physical and financial progress of completed and ongoing works and instructed the concerned officers to expedite the incomplete works for timely completion.
