Security Forces launch CASO in Sopore, internet suspended

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Thursday evening launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Official sources said following specific information about presence of militants, a joint search operation was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF at Warpora in Sopore on Thursday evening.
They said security forces were conducting door-to-door searches in the area. “Searches were also being conducted in nearby fields,” they said.

They said so far no contact was established with the militants. “The operation was going on when the reports last came in,” they said, adding the internet service has been suspended in Sopore as a precautionary measure. (AGENCIES)
