SAMBA, June 25: Security forces launched a massive search operation in the Samba border village this morning. Leading the search operation, SOG and Jammu and Kashmir Police, DySP, Garu Ram Bhardwaj said that this joint operation of Police, Army, Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was conducted near International Border, Suchetgarh, Kulian. , Kangwala, Rigal and adjoining areas.
He said “For the last many days, we have got information that there is a big movement of militants on that side of the border and those people are looking for opportunities to infiltrate, due to which we have launched a search operation to ensure there is not any other place where tunnel has been dug”!
He said that a tunnel was discovered by the BSF on May 4 near the International Border at Chak Fakira in the district. The pilgrims of Baba Amarnath Ji use the Highways and therefore it is necessary to increase the vigil for their safety as the entire focus is to ensure that this yatra is conducted in a peaceful manner. Bhardwaj said that this campaign has been planned to reach out to the villagers of the border villages. “We are also urging the local people to immediately inform the security forces about any suspicious movement.
He said that these areas with rivers and streams and wild grass were thoroughly searched as anti-national elements usually use this area to hide weapons brought through smuggling from across the border or dropped by drones. He said that the eyes of the security forces are on both sides of the border so that no untoward incident can happen.
