Security forces burst teargas shells to disperse protester in Srinagar

SRINAGAR : Security forces burst teargas and resorted to lathicharge in downtown Srinagar to disperse protestors demonstrating against Israeli air strikes in Gaza which has claimed more than 220 lives, including women and children.
Immediately after Friday prayers, hundreds of people took to streets near historic Jamia Masjid raising slogans against Israeli aggression in Gaza.
However, when the demonstrators were trying to march towards main chowk, security forces deployed in the area resorted to lathicharge to disperse them which had no  impact.
Meanwhile, angered by the security force action, the protestors’ pelted stones, they said, adding the forces later burst teargas shells to disperse the protestors. There were reports of clashed between security forces and protesters from other parts of downtown and Shehar-e-Khas areas as well.
Hardliner Hurriyat Conference (HC) had asked people to organise peaceful demonstrations after Friday prayers against Israeli air strikes in Gaza.
