Securing the borders

Our country has a long border touching on several contiguous countries like China, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan. If there are good relations between the neighbours, they do not need to deploy large border security forces nor create fences. But knowing that some of our neighbours are harbouring ill intentions against us, we are constrained to fence the border with them. Minister of State for Home told the Rajya Sabha that there are 783 porous stretches along the Indo-Bangladesh border and 149 gaps along the Indo-Pakistan border through which militants try to enter the country. We are aware that the Government has undertaken the stupendous task of fencing the border but at the same time we would recommend that our Border Security Forces will have to be provided with very modern equipment and paraphernalia to maintain strict vigil on the border and disallow the adversaries any chance of sneaking in to create disorder in our side of the border. Day and night detection of infiltrators, their unusual movements, their infiltrating passages and their conduits on our side of the line all have to be scrutinized and regularly kept under watch. We cannot allow complacency to have better part of us because we know that our adversaries are hell bent on taking the course of animosity and rancour.
