Second round of pulse polio immunization drive held across J&K

JAMMU, Feb 22: The second phase of the pulse polio immunization drive was held today across the State.
Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda today inaugurated 2nd round of pulse polio campaign at CHC Ramgarh in presence of BMO Ramgarh and medical staff.
Pulse Polio Immunization campaign was launched by Dr Baldev Raj Sharma, Director Family Welfare MCH and Immunization J&K at Sarwal Hospital by administering pulse polio drops to new born babies and infants. Dr BS Pathania, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Yashpal Sharma, MD National Health Mission, Dr Khajuria, CMO Jammu, Dr VK Gupta, Surveillance Medical Officer, NPSP, WHO, Medical Superintendent Sarwal Hospital and other staff members. Similarly the campaign was started by Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir at JLNM Hospital Srinagar in presence of Dr Yangchan Dolma, Asstt Director/SEPIO Directorate of Family Welfare MCH and Immunization Kashmir and Medical Superintendent JLNM Hospital Srinagar. Meanwhile in the districts, the campaign was inaugurated by MLAs, respective Deputy Commissioners, SDMs, Sarpanchs and other dignitaries.
The second round of PPI was held across Jammu Division. The health workers administered polio drops at their respective booths. The mobile and transit teams were also pressed into service, which covered the children at Bus-Stand, Railway Station and Airport. As per preliminary reports, 82 per cent children have been immunized on the polio booths in Jammu Division on the first day of second round of the campaign.
Rotary Club today organized a Pulse Polio camp at City Chowk. MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest, whileas President Rotary Club Rakesh Gupta, secretary Sanjay Sethi, and Rajinder Chouhan member besides President Kanak Mandi Traders Association Vijay Kumar Gupta were also present. The polio drops were administered to tiny tots. Among others present were Rajesh Gupta, Raj Kumar, Ravi Sharma, Amit Gupta, Vinay and Rajesh Nishchal.
MLA Kishtwar Sunil Kumar Sharma today inaugurated the 2nd round of intensified Pulse Polio Programme at District Hospital Kishtwar by giving oral polio vaccines (OPV) to children in presence of ADDC Kishtwar AS Chib, CMO Kishtwar Dr Sham Prasad Gupta, Superintendent DH Kishtwar Dr Pervaiz Iqbal and BMO Kishtwar Dr Guljabeen Ara.
The second round of pulse polio immunization drive was inaugurated by Deputy CMO Reasi Dr KC Dogra at CHC Katra in presence of BMO Katra Dr Gopal Dutt, Dr Rajan Gupta and staff members. Special teams were also deputed at various areas enroute Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and base camp for administer polio drops to children.
Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah established a “Pulse Polio Immunization” Booth at Domail for children below five years. A medical team comprising of one Medical Officer and two Nursing Assistants of Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah alongwith one medical representatives of BMO, Bhadarwah provided their services. A total of 162 children were immunized with pulse polio drops during the programme.
The second round of pulse polio immunization drive was started by SDM Mendhar Ramesh Kumar at SDH Mendhar in presence of staff members and large number of people.
In Anantnag, 159614 children in the age group of 0-5 years were administered pulse polio drop. The programme was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, Tasaduq Jeelani at MCH Sheerbagh.
In Pulwama, 79454 children were administered Pulse Polio drops. Deputy Commissioner, Neeraj Kumar inaugurated the programme at old District Hospital.
In Shopian, 42520 children were administered pulse polio drops. Deputy Commissioner, Bashir Ahmed Bhat inaugurated the programme at District Hospital.
In Budgam, 99,566 children upto 5 years age group were covered under Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) Programme. Deputy Commissioner, Mir Altaf Ahmed launched the programme by administering the first polio dose to a new born.
In Kulgam, 91,546 children were administered the pulse polio drops. Deputy Commissioner, Nissar Hussain Wani launched the programme at district hospital.
In Baramulla, 151454 children were administered pulse polio drops. Deputy Commissioner, Talat Parvez administered polio drops to 10 children including newly born babies at District Hospital.
In Kupwara, 1,34,000 children were administered pulse polio drops. Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan kicked off the programme by administering the polio drops at District Hospital.
