JAMMU, Jan 5: Security forces and police today conducted searches in Channi Himmat and Vijaypur following inputs given by the people that they had spotted militants in their areas.
Police said Army pressed its three helicopters into service, which flew over Channi Himmat, Kunjwani and surrounding areas but didn’t find any suspicious movement. Simultaneously, police teams also conducted searches in the areas but couldn’t trace any militant.
The searches were launched after a civilian reported to the police that he had observed movement of three mysterious youth, carrying guns with them.
The searches were called off tonight but police remained on alert.
In Vijaypur also, police parties conducted searches this afternoon after people claimed movement of the militants.
However, there were no trace of any militants in the area, police said.
