JAMMU, Nov 7: SDM, R S Pura, Suraj Parkash Rakwal alongwith an officers’ team today conducted surprise inspection of various markets of R S Pura and seized 30 kg polythene hand bags besides checking quality of sweets and gift packs being prepared for Diwali.
The SDM asked the traders to strictly adhere to the prescribed norms of Weights & Measures and Essential Commodities Acts and refrain from indulging in overcharging and profiteering. He asked the people to register their complaints, if any, in this regard to get quality services.
Earlier, the SDM alongwith officers’ team and Incharge second in command BSF visited border areas like Nekowal, Sai Khurad, Sai Kalan and took stock of people’s problems related to cultivation near border areas.
They also visited Suchet-garh, Partap Kot, Gharane and adjoining areas and listened to their grievances.
The people of these border areas demanded rationalization of entry gates for farmers besides compensation for the land acquired under border fencing.
At Partappur, the SDM, acting on villagers’ complaint, asked the Tehsildar to get the encroached State land vacated within a week’s time and hand over the same to the Panchayat.
