JAMMU, Aug 26: Acting over the complaints of erratic power and irregular water supply in Chowki Choura Sub Division, the concerned Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Virender Gupta today chaired a meeting of all the concerned officials of Power Development Department (PDD) and Jal Shakti Department.
During the meeting, explicit directions were given to resolve the power and water crisis at the shortest possible time. The AEE of Executive Wing, Jammu was contacted and instructions were given to her to get the pending works accomplished having been undertaken by M/s Reliance Electric Works, within a period of 15 days.
Besides this, directions were imparted to AEE Jal Shakti Department, Chowki Choura to complete the pending work of laying gravel and sand in the Filtration Plant at Thorni Intake Point and an affirmative assurance was given by the AEE to complete the task within a period of 10 days.
Meanwhile, a surprise visit to the 24×7 Accidental Hospital at Chowki Choura was conducted by the SDM and his Revenue Team, and found that all sections (except Emergency) of the Hospital were locked at 10.10 AM. Immediately, the BMO was called to explain the matter and directions were given to the BMO to be punctual in future as well as ensure proper dress-code by his subordinates.
The SDM also made a visit to the market of Chowki Choura, accompanied with his Revenue team including Tehsildar Raman Jandyal and police personnel, on account of Jammu Band call and sensitized the shopkeepers of the area for opening their shops. He assured them full protection from the administration side.
Earlier, the SDM made a visit to village Basawa of Choura Panchayat and take stock of the damages caused by recent incessant rains. Necessary steps were taken on the spot. Simultaneously, the services of a JCB were sought from the nearby Company to divert the flow of Naunath rivulet to prevent further soil-erosion as well as ensure safety of the Dug Well at Basawa.
