JAMMU, July 29: The young generation belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community should be educated about the discriminatory policies of the successive Governments of National Conference (NC) and Congress in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Discussing the plight of the SCs during the rule of NC and Congress, with the party leaders of the community, Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that they were always treated as vote bank and never considered for real empowerment, both economically and socially.
He said that the extent of anti-SC policies of the two parties can be judged from the fact that the reservation granted soon after the adoption of the Constitution of India to the community was not implemented in the State for over 20 years. Not only this, the SCs, during the NC and Congress rule, were repeatedly embarrassed by demanding new category certificates after every 12-15 years in matters related to education and employment.
Balbir said that it is the BJP Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has shown serious concern for the real welfare of the SCs. The BJP Government has launched one scheme after the other during the last seven years with the sole objective of the progress and prosperity of this community.
In the recent expansion of the Union Cabinet, it happened for the first time in the history of India that 12 Ministers inducted belong to the SC community. This decision of the Union Government speaks of the belief that the participation of the community at the highest level is imperative for the development and progress of the country as they are no less in competence and patriotism.
BJP SC Morcha National Executive Member and Chandigarh Prabhari, Surinder Bhagat, J&K BJP SC Morcha Secretary, Umesh Kumar Gabber, Jammu district president, Manohar Lal Meenia and Jammu West district Morcha, president, Yashpal Shivgotra were present in the meeting.
