VIJAYPUR, June 23: JKNPP general secretary and former MLA Samba, Yash Pal Kundal today alleged that Schedule Caste community is being ignored in every field by the BJP Government.
Addressing a press conference today, Kundal said there has been a lot of agitation in the state for the last few days. Now, the BJP Government has called an all-party meeting over Jammu and Kashmir in Delhi. In the proposed meet has been transpired that the delimitation and assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be the main agenda.
Kundal, a former MOS wanted to draw the attention of Modi Govt towards the current situation in J&K UT and said that the BJP should restore statehood status before starting political activities here. He said that the Modi Government should first restore the status of the state, then after completing the process of delimitation, assembly elections should be held soon.
While drawing the attention of Modi Government towards Scheduled Castes community, NPP leader said that since independence, the vote share of the people of the SC community in Jammu has reached to about 25 percent. But since independence, the people of the SC community have been ignored and not once an MP seat was reserved for the SC community, neither for the Lok Sabha nor Rajya Sabha. Since 1996, till date, the delimitation has not been implemented properly by the Government of that time, he added.
Kundal said the delimitation work is going on in the state. ” We appeal to the Modi Government that the MP seats should also be increased through delimitation in the right way and in view of the vote percentage of the SC community, some seats should be reserved for the SCs in the upcoming MP elections. He further said that reservation in promotion is applicable in the whole country but it has been stopped in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Kundal said that reservation in promotion should be implemented. He added that West Pakistani Refugees should also be given the right to vote in the assembly elections.
