JAMMU, Feb 22: Jhajjar Kotli police today booked Revenue authorities and a scrap dealer for manipulating revenue records to encroach upon 19 kanals prime land of a civilian at Soketar along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Police said a case has been registered against a scrap dealer Jasbir Singh alias TOTA Kabari, son of Sharan Singh resident of Channi and unnamed Revenue Department officials on a written complaint lodged by one Kaka Ram, son of Shankar Dass resident of Soketar, who was actual owner of the land.
However, police investigations revealed that the then Revenue authorities had tampered with the land record in the year 2002-03 to change mutation with ulterior motives of grabbing prime land of the farmer.
Police said as prima facie a case has been made out, the accused have been booked under FIR No. 31/2013 under Sections 447, 420, 467, 468 and 472 RPC at Jhajjar Kotli police station.
Police said the record was being scrutinized to fix responsibility of Revenue officials for the offence.
Police parties headed by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Pervez Sajjad made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary.
