JAMMU, Aug 11: The Forest officials seized a Scorpio vehicle loaded with Khairwood in Akhnoor area last night.
Reports said during the intervening nigh of Aug 10 amd 11 a forest team from Kalidhar Range led by Vijay Khosla Range Officer, under the direct supervision of Anurag Arya DFO Jammu seized Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration No. PB08AU-5812 and Motorcycle bearing No JK02AE-7738 loaded with illicit Khairwood at village Sanyala falling under Chowki block.
The vigilant forest field staff had laid a naka at village Sanyala to check illegal movement of forest produce and the alert forest field staff on suspicious movement of said vehicle chased and caught it from village Sanyala, Maira Mandrian, Akhnoor.
The vehicle along with 5 qtls of illicit Khairwood along with motorcycle involved in offence were seized. Forest Offence Report (FOR) has also been registered and confiscation proceeding against the seized vehicle is also initiated in the court of authorised officer (DFO Jammu).
