JAMMU, Nov 26: Stone Crusher Owners Association (SCOA) today accused the Geology and Mining Department of adopting dictatorial attitude towards the crusher industry.
In a statement, President of the SCOA and MLC Ch Vikram Randhawa said that stone crusher industry has nothing to do with the Geology and Mining Department and almost all the crushers are registered with the District Industry Centres (DICs) in all the districts of the State and submit NOCs from all concerned departments to State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) regularly.
He alleged that the Geology and Mining Department has created a mess from decades by outsourcing the collection of royalty for extraction. “Despite repeated requests and reminders to collect royalty directly from the unit holders the Department of Geology and Mining has paid least attention”, he added.
“The PDP-BJP Coalition Government claims that it is committed to Ease of Doing Business but the SRO-302 of the Geology and Mining Department has frozen the Ease of Doing Business”, he said, adding “none of the stakeholders was taken into consideration before issuing this SRO which reflects the dictatorial attitude of the department”.
He claimed that stone crusher industry is following all norms for operation laid down by the Government hence cannot be termed as illegal.
