UDHAMPUR, Dec 1: Two weeks long Scientific Aid Course concluded at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur in which 22 police officials of the rank of ASI to Inspector of various wings of Police Department nominated by PHQ participated.
The main objective behind this course was to enhance the capabilities of police officials by making them aware of various scientific methods and techniques which can be useful in investigations after the registration of cases and its subsequent relevance and admissibility in the court of law during the judicial determination.
The schedule of this course was finalized under the effective supervision of Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, Farooq Khan and Jt. Director SKPA, Parminder Singh. A number of guest speakers such as scientific experts of Forensic Science Laboratory Jammu, R.S.Jamwal, Anju Khajuria, Masood Sadiq and Rakesh Hangloo, staff of Reserve Bank of India Anil Kumar, AGM , Narendar Gupta, PMO and other members having vast experience in their fields were invited in the Academy delivered meaningful lectures on the topics introduction to Forensic Science, preservation and search of crime scene, importance of finger prints and foot prints in investigation, forgeries and restoration of obliterated marks, importance of biological fluids, DNA profiling, classification of poisoning, essential of post-mortem, medico-legal aspects of injuries, detection of forged currency, law relating to experts and its evidentiary value, etc.
The participants of this course also visited the Forensic Science Laboratory Jammu for practical demonstrations of various scientific methods/techniques.
The valedictory moments were graced by AD (I) SKPA, Ravinder K. Rao who emphasized the importance of this course for the officials of Police Department and said that these courses will prove purposeful in making the investigators more competent and skillful. Anil Gandotra, Senior Prosecuting Officer and SI Harjeet Singh were the Course Director and Course Secretary.
