JAMMU, Mar 18: Scientific Advisory Committee ( SAC) meeting of KVK Jammu, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-J), was held here today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr K S Risam.
In the meeting, officers of the line department and Heads of Divisions of Faculties of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences shared valuable information and data. All line departments listed their requirements regarding extension needs in their discipline.
The Vice-Chancellor advised the KVK to expand its area of work in the entire agriculture sector involving livestock, apiculture, sericulture, fisheries etc for the benefit of farming community. He stressed on well planned action plan of KVK for mitigating and addressing the farmer’s issues.
Dr M M S Zama, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J, assured that the faculty of Veterinary sciences will render their help for solving the problems of livestock farmers. Dr R K Arora, Associate Director Extension & I/c KVKs also spoke on the occasion.
Dr Vikas Tandon, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu, presented power point presentation of KVK activities for the year 2018-19 and proposed action plan for the year 2019-20.
The meeting was attended by Dr Imtiaz, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, S K Langer, Chief Agriculture officer, Rakesh Kumar, Horticulture Development Officer, Siddha and Kachroo, Deputy Project Directors ATMA, Jammu.
Dr S K Gupta, Heads of Division of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Dr B C Sharma, HOD, Agronomy; Dr R K Sharma, HOD, Animal Nutrition; Dr Shalini Suri, HOD, Anatomy and Dr L M Gupta, HOD Agro-forestry gave their valuable inputs.
Dr Puneet Choudhary, Senior Scientist (Agro-forestry) conducted the proceeding and Dr Rakesh Sharma, Senior Scientist (Agriculture Exten-sion), presented formal vote of thanks.
Dr Sheetal Badyal, Scientist (Home Science) and Dr Prem Kumar, Scientist (Fisheries) acted as repporteurs. Raju Gupta, Programme Asstt (Farms), Poonam Abrol, Programme Asstt (Trainings) and Satbir Singh, Programme Asstt. (Trainings) also attended the meeting.
