JKP wins men’s title; District Jammu lifts women’s trophy

JAMMU, Mar 18: Three days 6th J&K State Handball Championship concluded at MA Stadium here today.
Narinder Mahajan, Vice President Handball Federation of India was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr SM Bali, President J&K Handball Association and Ranjit Singh Chib, Former Indian Captain and SSP J&K Police were the guests of honour, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
The Championship was organized by J&K Handball Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council, under the supervision of Ashwani Kumar Raina, General Secretary of the Association.
While speaking, Narinder Mahajan said the State is rich in sports talent and sportsmen from the State have proven their mettle at different national and international championships. He added that proper nurturing by JKHA will go a long way in promoting the talent at different levels.
Earlier, Ashwani Kumar Raina presented the welcome address.
Among others present were Sanjeev Jamwal Executive Member JkHA, Dev Raj, SAI Coach and Vinay Sharma, Coach.
The final match in women’s section was played between District Jammu and District Udhampur in which District Jammu emerged winner by 13-1 goals. The main scorer for District Jammu was Arushi who netted 6 goals, while Megha and Poonam Kumari also scored 3 goals each.
In men’s section, the final match was played between STC Jammu and J&K Police in which J&K Police emerged winner by 26-21 goals.
