JAMMU, Dec 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Poonch, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted 7th meeting of Scientific Advisory Committee, which is a body to decide the functioning of KVK and to finalize its action plan for the next year.
The meeting was chaired by Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-J who stressed on the need of close liaison between farmers, extension functionaries and KVK scientists to work up on emerging challenges to overcome the constraints in agriculture production and productivity, particularly in Poonch district.
He also emphasized on conducting need based and demand driven training programmes. He assured full cooperation and support from University authorities to the KVK for widening and expending its working spectrum so that more and more farmers are benefitted across the length and breadth of the Poonch district.
Dr Sanjay Swami, Programme Coordinator, carried out the technical programme by presenting the Action Taken Report, Progress Report of 2014-15 and proposed Action Plan for the next financial year.
Officers from the line Department and progressive farmers of Poonch district actively participated in finalization of action plan of KVK Poonch.
Progressive farmers Amreek Singh, Bansi Lal, Muzafar Ahmed, Mohd Sharief, Mohd Zaman and others represented the farming community to bring forth the various issues relating to farming. Dr Amrish Vaid, Programme Coordinator, KVK Kathua and Dr Sanjay Kher, Programme Coordinator, KVK Jammu were also present during the meeting.
Chief Agricultural Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, District Information Officer, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Lead District Manager, Lead Bank Poonch, Divisional Forest Officer, District Officer Fisheries and other heads of the line departments were also present on the occasion.
