SRINAGAR, Dec 4: Legal Metrology Department imposed Rs 5,000 as fine on a school in Srinagar for coercing its students to pay four months fees (Nov-Feb) at a time and school establishment fees of Rs. 1000 without giving the break-up.
A statement of the department said it received complaints from a parent against the school and subsequently its officials conducted a surprise inspection of the school where it failed to convince the team about the school establishment fees and details of break-up of the school establishment fees were found not genuine.
The school management was directed to pay back the undue charges received from the students and not to force the parents to pay four months fees of their wards at a time.
A challan case was registered against the school and a penal sum of Rs. 5000 was imposed on the management.
