RAJOURI, May 27: Four persons including three students were injured when a school bus fell into a gorge in Manjakote area of Rajouri district today.
Reports said a school bus bearing registration number JK11G/2315, belonging to Higher Secondary School, Gharib Nawaz Education Society, Manjakote, met with an accident at around 1:15 PM in Galuti area, en-route Ghambir Mughalan.
The accident triggered panic among locals. They rushed towards to the site.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Manjakote stated that he received an emergency call from an employee of PHC Ghambir Mughalan. Acting swiftly, the Health Department, in collaboration with the local police, dispatched ambulance to the accident site. A prompt and coordinated rescue operation was carried out, ensuring timely medical assistance to the victims.
Three students injured in the mishap were immediately shifted to PHC Manjakote for treatment. The injured students have been identified as Mohd Yaseen (19), son of Mukhtar Ahmed; Uzain Hamid (18), son of Abdul Hamid; and Suleiman Khan (19), son of Mohd Qayoom- all residents of Galuti. Medical officials have confirmed that all three students are out of danger and are recovering under supervision.
An elderly man, Mohd Din, aged 70, also sustained injuries in the accident. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced medical care.
SHO Manjakote, Inspector Imran Khan, said that an FIR has been registered in connection with the accident. He further stated that the injured individuals were first taken to PHC Manjakote, and one elderly victim was referred to GMC Rajouri. He also confirmed that the bus driver was injured and is under treatment.
