For class-I, II which have got 2 years, various tools and techniques like anecdotal records, checklist, portfolio, and interactions (through a holistic 360- degree assessment with teacher, peers, family, and friends), the scheme said, can be used for assessment.
As per the scheme, in the preparatory stage which has the duration of 3 years, for Class 3, the assessment shall be done as per NIPUN guidelines, for Class 4, continuous Formative Assessment (CFA) will be conducted by schools along with Summative Assessment (SA) at the end of Academic session at school level.

“External Summative Assessment (SA) (Term-End) for Class 5th to be conducted at the respective schools (only Govt. Schools) under the supervision of the Complex Head and concerned DIET and the assessment tools/question paper shall be provided by SCERT,” the document states.
