SCERT organizes discussion on National Mission on Mentoring

JAMMU, Dec 13: In continuation to the implementation of NEP-2020, a “National Level Open House Discussion on National Mission on Mentoring” was conducted by National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi in collaboration with SCERT J&K today.
The participants joined the program through both offline and online mode. For the successful accomplishment of the event, 25 participants joined in-person and around 140 participants (from SCERT & JKBOSE) joined online, 75 from Jammu Division, 48 from Kashmir division and 20 from the UT of Ladakh. The participants constituted the faculty from DIETs, Field functionaries, HOIs, ZEOs, faculty from SCERT J&K and faculty from JKBOSE.
The program was inaugurated by Prof Veena Pandita, Director SCERT J&K, who emphasized that since its inception, SCERT J&K has been continuously aiming to achieve the goals of enhancing the capabilities of teachers in education sector.
The keynote address was presented by B K Singh, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, UT of J&K, who emphasized upon the new roles of School Education Deptt. as recommended in NEP-2020 and termed the National Mission on Mentoring a significant step in this regard.
The agenda of the meeting was set by Kesang Y Sherpa, Member Secretary, NCTE. A brief introduction of Blue Book on NMM was given by Prof Sharad Sinha, NMM Committee, Member, who threw light on the main ideas of Mission on Mentoring and discussed the Blue book in detail.
The presentation on draft approach note was shared by Vinay R Sanjivi & Sakshi Rawat. The four panelists, who shared their valuable suggestions, include Dr Renu Nanda, Head Dept of Education and Dean Faculty of Education; Dr Kajal Devi Manhas, Assistant Professor; Dr Mandeep Singh, Assistant Professor & Dr Shashi Prabha, Assistant Professor from University of Jammu.
The distinguished guests, who joined the programme online include, Deep Raj, Project Director, Samagra Shiksha; Tasadduq Hussain, Director School Education, Kashmir; Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu; H R Pakhroo, Joint Director, DSE, Jammu; Shokat Mehmood, Joint Director, DSE, Jammu; Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director Academics, JKBOSE; Dr Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary, Secrecy JKBOSE and Prof Wahid Makdoomi, Joint Secretary, Publications, JKBOSE. The program concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Surinder Kumar, Joint Director, SCERT J&K Jammu Division.
