SC refuses to interfere in Sai Baba controversey

NEW DELHI, Oct 13: The Supreme Court today refused to interfere in the Sai Baba controversy stoked by a statement by Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati of Dwaraka peeth against attributing divinity to Sai Baba.   Dismissing the petition, a bench headed by Justice TS Thakur said, “It is for the government or the stakeholders to resolve the controversy.”

The Saidham Charitable Trust, which manages Saibaba shrines in Maharashtra including the one at Shirdi, had in the petition sought restraint on the Shakaracharya and followers against making such statements.
