SC orders reassessment of income earned by Big B through KBC in 2001-02

NEW DELHI:  In a major setback to Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, the Supreme Court today ordered reassessment of income earned by him from the famous show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, (KBC) during the year 2001-02. While allowing the plea filed by the Income Tax (IT) department, an Apex Court division bench, headed by Justice Rajan Gogoi, said the income tax department will reassess 73-year-old Bollywood actor’s income tax during the year. It was alleged by the IT department that Amitabh did not give correct figures of his income during the assessment. He took 30 per cent benefit of income tax illegally. Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who wants to be a Millionaire; popularly known as, KBC) was an Indian television game show, hosted by Bachchan. (AGENCIES)
