JAMMU, June 4: Deputy Advocate Generals Aseem Sawhney and Amit Gupta today tendered their resignation.
In separate resignations sent to the Government through Commissioner/ Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the two Law Officers – Aseem Sawhney and Amit Gupta stated that they were appointed as Deputy Advocate Generals of High Court by the Government then headed by the Governor N N Vohra vide Government Order No. 1195- LD (A) of 2016 dated 17.3.2016 along with other team of Law Officers, under tutelage of the then Advocate General D C Raina.
“Since the Government has now appointed new Advocate General vide SRO 180 dated 3rd June 2016, therefore propriety, high ethics and traditions of the profession, demand, that we should tender resignation to pave way for the Government to form its new team of Law Officers under the aegis of the new Advocate General”, read the resignation letters.
