Sir,
This has reference to the article “Save Trikuta Mountains” published in this paper on Dec 9.. Our first and top most priority should be to save our environment because we too are an important component of our environment. If there is a threat to our environment it will not indirectly but directly affect human life. The main threat to Trikuta mountains is from the pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine who use plastic bags, disposal crockery and other non bio-degradable material on the way and dump the same into the nearby deep gorge which results into heavy loss to flora and fauna surviving there.Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is largest pilgrimage and tourism center in India. Year after year the number of pilgrims are increasing, so it will obviously lead to increase in quantity of solid waste in Trikuta mountains. It is not only the duty of Shrine Board or other agencies but of each and every individual pilgrim visiting Vaishno Devi to keep his surrounding neat and clean. Besides strict steps should be taken to save the ecology of Trikuta Mountains.
Yours etc…..
