Saurabh gets national award on Smart Govt Service Delivery

Srinagar, Aug 11 Saurabh Bhagat, Secretary to Government, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Department has been conferred a national award on Smart Government Service Delivery for his exemplary and innovative contribution in “Digitization and Automation of Ration Cards in J&K for CA&PD Department  at Smart City Conference held at  New Delhi.
Under the e-PDS project of the department, a total of 19.34 lakh Ration Cards have been digitized and a database of 98% Ration Cards has been created. This will  help the State move up the e-governance index and help in de-duplication of fraud and bogus Ration Cards. Aadhaar seeding / enablement and DBT compliance will help in reducing pilferage and make PDS more targeted.
The Award was cleared by a distinguished jury having many senior IAS officers and Smart City Experts around the globe. The Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department has bagged the first such award for J&K which was awarded for innovative use of technology for a Safer and a Smart City and ICT driven service delivery to one of the biggest and important Citizen Centric Department.
Mr. Bhagat said that department is working hard and soon the Ration Cards would be smart and Aadhaar enabled and the delivery would be e-driven so that the accountability and transparency is enhanced in the traditional and legacy system. The department has embanked on computerization of entire Supply Chain Management by putting computers in all stores and AD / TS Offices.
