JAMMU, July 21: In order to take stock of losses caused by the heavy rains in Jammu West, State vice president, BJP and MLA Sat Sharma visited rain affected areas including Krishna Nagar, Canal Road, Talab Tillo and adjoining areas and listened to the grievances of the people.
He was accompanied by officials of JMC (Jammu Municipal Corporation), local residents, political and social activists of the area. Sharma gave a patient hearing to the problems faced by the people.
In a press statement issued, Sharma said that he immediately instructed the administration of JMC as well to immediately start the cleaning works of nullahs, deep drains and lanes in order to ensure that the life of people is restored back to normal.
He directed the officials of the UEED (Urban Environmental Engineering Department) to immediately lift the garbage from the nullahs and also take up the construction works of the Nullahs in order to provide a better infrastructure to the public.
He stated that once for all he wants to end the problem of nullahs in Krishna Nagar and other parts of the constituency also.
He stated that the DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) for restoration of flood damaged infrastructure and preventive measures for water logging/submergence caused due to incessant rains have been sanctioned for Krishna Nagar and area adjoining RRL and the tenders for the same are under process.
He also stated that works will be taken up accordingly so that no problem is caused in the future to the residents of the Constituency.
CTO JMC Talat Mohammed, mandal president, BJP, Ayodhya Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Jeet Angral and Ankush Sharma accompanied the MLA.
