KISHTWAR, May 26: Police today arrested eight persons including a Sarpanch under Gambling Act.
Police spokesman said that on the basis of specific information a police party from Kishtwar Police Station conducted a raid in Poochal area and arrested eight persons including a Sarpanch for indulging in gambling.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sarpanch Jatinder Bhagat alias Pappu, Pawan Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Babu Ram, Anil Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Sanjay Kumar and Bhoop Ram. From their possession police recovered an amount of Rs 8000. They have been booked under Gambling Act.
