JAMMU, Sept 12: Commissioner/Secretary, Social Welfare, Sarita Chauhan today chaired a meeting of all District Social Welfare Officers of Jammu division to review the physical and financial achievements registered by the department under various schemes at Jammu.
During the meeting, she reviewed the progress under various schemes including National Social Assistance Programme , Integrated Social Security Scheme and Pre and Post Matric Scholarship Scheme , State Marriage assistance Scheme, Aasara, Working Of Social Wefare Homes and Construction of SC/OBC Hostels etc,
Director Social Welfare Jammu Vir Ji Hangloo gave an over view of the schemes implemented by the Department for the Welfare of poor and needy. He reported that at present 2,51,626 beneficiaries are being paid monthly financial assistance (pensions) under National Social Assistance Programme and Integrated Social Security Scheme which includes old age/widows/divorcees/ and physically challenged pepole,
Speaking on the occasion, Sarita Chouhan said that the people should be made aware about various welfare schemes being implemented by the department so that they can avail maximum benefits from these schemes. She directed the officers to ensure comprehensive coverage of deserving population under the schems for inclusive growth of weaker and vulnerable sections.
All the District Social welfare Officers were asked the officers to ensure that monthly pension at the revised rate of Rs.1000/- per month be disbursed to the pensioners immediately only after Biometric verification (aadhar) of beneficary and verification of eligibility is in accordance with the norms/guidelines. She further stressed to arrange special camps for collection of Aadhar cards and making the masses aware of the schemes being run by the Department like Pre and Post Matric Scholarship Scheme , State Marriage assistance Scheme, Aasara, etc to avail the maximum benefits.
