JAMMU, Aug 14: Lok Janshakti Party national youth president Sanajy Saraf has appealed the Election Commissioner of India to make procedure of voting system of Kashmiri migrants very simple for ensuring maximum participation of the community in elections.
The procedure of voting system in past has remained complicated as filing of forms is very difficult and this needs to be simplified so as migrants may in large number participate in Assembly elections,” he said while talking to media persons, here today.
He also alleged that maximum names of voters were missing in the voter lists of Kashmiri migrants in their respective Assembly segments while in several cases, surnames have been changed.
The LJP leader, who has already announced to contest from Habba Kadal Assembly constituency, claimed that NDA alliance would field its candidates on all the Assembly seats in J&K.
Stating that Government of India was sending 7.51 lakh metric tones food grains to J&K  while requirement of the State was only 4.79 lakh metric tones, Mr Saraf demanded a probe to enquire where did 2.72 lakh metric tones of extra food go.
He also alleged that the State Government was charging extra on the ration being supplied by the Central Government for APL as well as BPL people. “The rate of APL ration is Rs 7.95 per kg and the State Government is charging Rs 10 per kg while rate of BPL ration is Rs 5.65 and the State Government is selling it at Rs 7.50 per kg,” he explained.
