JAMMU, July 11: A delegation of Sant Samaj, led by Mahamandaleshwar Rameshwar Das, called on the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langar and apprised him of the issues and problems that the Sant Samaj and various temples were having since the past many years.
Mahamandaleshwar Rameshwar Das demanded that in every trust, shrine board or any committee regarding the temples, a Mahant should also be included as the member of such trust, shrine board or temple committee in every district for proper transparency. He further demanded that a special place should be allocated for the Sant/Sadhu/Mahant to take Samadhi, if he dies while visiting any shrine.
Mahant Dutt Giri drew attention towards the land mafia encroaching upon the temple lands and urged the Div Com to get these lands vacated and handed over to the temples.
Mahant Rajesh Sharma (Mahant Bittu ) said that lands nears shrines like Vaishno Devi, Shiv Khori, Baba Amarnath, Budha Amarnath, Sudmahadev and other shrines should be provided to the Sadhus at cheaper rates as in the case of other States of India so that they can perform religious activities like Yagya etc by establishing Ashram or Kuttiyaa there.
He handed over the memorandum to Div Com and hoped that action would be taken over all the demands, particularly vacating land of temples from mafia.
Divisional Commissioner assured the delegation that special land shall be allotted for the Samadhi purpose of Sant Samaj and he will try to fulfill all the demands mentioned in the memorandum.
The delegation comprised of Mahant Sat Narayan Das, Mahant Mangal Dass (Naaga Baba) and Mahant Mohan Bharti.
