JAMMU, Sept 9: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) today re-opened Sanji Chat-Bhawan track after about a week of closure for the pilgrims following clearance of all boulders and repair of the track.
SMVDSB CEO Dr Mandeep K Bhandari said the track has been made functional. With this, the pilgrims can now straightway proceed to Bhawan from Katra to Adh-Kunwari-Sanji Chat. Earlier, the pilgrims for last two days were being diverted from Sanji Chat to Bhairon Ghati to reach Bhawan.
“With clearance of boulders and repair of track between Sanji Chat to Bhawan, it was opened for the pilgrims this afternoon,’’ Dr Bhandari said, adding that the Board was now working on restoration of new track between Adh-Kunwari to Bhawan and hopefully it would also be thrown open for the pilgrims in the next two days.
The SMVDSB CEO said today 13,000 pilgrims left Katra base camp for the yatra while 18,000 yatris had performed darshan yesterday.
