Sangram Sena demands action against erring nursing homes

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 18: Sangram Sena has demanded the Government to take stringent action against the erring nursing homes, which are indulging in squeezing money from poor masses on unwarranted means and methods.
Addressing the executive body meeting of the Sena, its president, Ram Rattan Raina said Government has no control over nursing homes, which are set free to adopt unwarranted means and methods to extract money from the poor masses while treating the patients.
Citing an example of the barbaric action of the nursing homes, he said a leading nursing home in order to extract money even put the dead body of a person on ventilator and heavily charged from his kin. Though this fact was ascertained and brought into the notice of higher-ups, but to of no avail, he regretted.
He urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and State Health Ministry to  restore humane treatment to the ailing masses by initiating rightful action against the nursing homes and private practicing doctors, that act virtually as butchers.
