Sangeet Milon, JKAACL organize Classical Voice of India

JAMMU, May 8: Sangeet Milon and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized Classical Voice of India at KL Saigal Hall, here.
There were four categories to the competition–junior (10-14 years), middle (15-19 years), senior (20-24 Years) and yuva kalakaar (25-29 Years).
As many as 25 students participated in the event and those who were adjudged first, second and third in each category include Ridhima Vajpayee (Ist), Shambhabi Sharma (IInd), Samridhi Sharma (IIIrd) and consolation to Shrijas Sharma and Sarvan Gupta in junior group (vocal). In middle group (vocal), the prize clinched by Vanshika Jaral (Ist), Sunandani Jamwal (IInd) Harshat Sharma (IIIrd) and the consolation prize in this was bagged by Jasmeen Kour. No prize was given to anyone except consolation prize in senior group (vocal) and yuva group prizes were clinched by Sunil Sharma and Pooja Sharma respectively. In Tabla, no candidate could win the first three prizes in junior and senior category and only consolation prize was given in each category that went in favour of Sarthik Joshi and Gurjot Singh. In yuva category, Karan Malhotra claimed first prize who was also declared as Classical Nawaz of Jammu. The second prize went in favour of Padam Kalotra. Sunil Srianna was declared classical voice of Jammu.
The local coordinator from JKAACL was Ashok Gupta who was assisted by Bishan Dass, Assistant Cultural Officer, JKAACL. The other local group which supported this endeavour was Tejpunj Society.
The prize distribution was done by Rajesh Anand, Regional Manager, NABARD, Siddhant Chowdhary, Director KC Sports Club and Amrendra Mishra, Principal KC Public School.
The winners were awarded the Classical Voice of Jammu Trophy and all participants were given participation certificates. BS Bali an Icon of classical music field was honored by the organizers.
Sunaina Koul, Ex-HoD (Vocal) IMFA, KL Verrna, Ex-HoD (Tabla), IMFA and Milan Dev Nath, Founder Member were the adjudicators.
The finalists of the three categories will be invited to perform at the grand finals to be held at Lucknow in December 2016.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Nishtha Sharma from Kanpur and vote of thanks was delivered by Pradeep Narain, Secretary Sangeet Milon.
