UDHAMPUR, Aug 21: Latti Development Committee (LDC) has urged upon the J&K UT administration to sanction a Fire Station at remote Latti tehsil headquarters in Dudu Sub Division of Udhampur district.
In a meeting of the members of the LDC held under the chairmanship of Sarpanch Latti and spokesperson, All J&K Panchayat Conference, Kasturi Lal Gupta at Latti today, the members stressed the need to sanction a Fire Station at Latti tehsil headquarters. They pointed out that the nearby Fire Station is located at Chenani, is 56 kms away from Latti and 76 km from Dudu. Another nearby such station is at Ramnagar, which is about 110 kms away from Latti and 65 kms from Basantgarh.
Gupta said that there is population of over 60,000 in this belt and most of the houses here are wooden. Many fire incidents took place in the area in the past where property worth crores was destroyed but due to lack of any Fire and Emergency Services Station,the public property could not be saved. He appealed to the J&K UT administration to sanction a Fire Stations at Latti in Dudu Sub Division of district Udhampur.
LDC chairman further said that same was the demand from the people of Basantgarh Sub Division which is 45 kms away from Latti tehsil headquarters. The new fire station here will cover a large area right from Man Talai to Bup Sarar, Sira, Jakhed, Latti, Dhoona, Dudu, Panchount, parts of Pattangarh and dozens of hamlets of this Dudu Sub Division, he maintained.
