JAMMU, Dec 20: Samooh Theatre here today staged acclaimed play ‘The Pit’, based on the short story by Krishan Chander.
The play was adapted into Dogri and directed by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan.
Play ‘The Pit’ was a hard-hitting portrayal of social injustice and human apathy. Using the pit as a potent symbol, the play highlights the suffering of the marginalized and the moral indifference of a society that silently witnesses exploitation and oppression.
The narrative questions collective responsibility and challenges the audience to confront uncomfortable truths about inequality and silence.
Through evocative performances and impactful staging, Samooh Theatre succeeded in translating Krishan Chander’s intense realism into a compelling theatrical experience. The production reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to socially relevant theatre that stimulates thought and dialogue.
The audience responded with sustained applause, appreciating both the literary depth of the text and the sincerity of its stage interpretation.
