JAMMU, May 12: Samohik Yagnopavit ceremony (wearing of sacred thread) on traditional Vedic pattern of 28 Hindu boys was performed by Swami Kumar Ji Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi today.
The function started yesterday evening and culminated this evening with Puranahuti and prashad.
A large number of devotees, saints, scholars and relatives of the children whose Yagnopavit ceremony was performed in the Ashram participated in the function. The function also coincided with 58th birthday of Swami Kumar Ji.
Mubarak Gul Speaker Legislative Assembly of the State was the guest of honour on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering he said Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits and expressed hope of their early return to Valley.
Mr Gul stressed on strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, and harmony which is the main feature of the State.
The organizers apprised the Speaker about their demands and Mr Gul assured that all the genuine demands will be taken up on priority basis. Mr Gul was accompanied by Ashok Koul chairman Migrant Cell RDS who also blessed the children.
On the occasion meritorious students were felicitated.
Delivering religious sermons on the occasion Swami Kumar Ji highlighted the importance of Maha Gaytri the fundamental Mantras from Vedas.
He said the main objective of performing the Samohik Yagnopavit ceremony is to reduce the financial burden on the families which can’t perform the Sanaskar due to financial constraints after their displacement form their homes and hearths.
