Samlah inhabitants protest against ration dealer

SAMBA, Aug 30: Inhabitants of Samlah Panchayat today staged a protest demonstration against the local ration dealer in village Samlah.
The protest was led by local Sarpanch Pritam Chand who alleged that the ration dealer of the area did not give ration to the people from March 2020 to November 2020 and three months of the year 2021, which should be investigated.
He said that most of the people in Samlah Panchayat are below poverty line and daily wage earners. “While due to the corona epidemic, the Central Government provided free ration to the poor people living below the poverty line but the ration dealer of their area are not providing even subsidized ration under the National Food Security Act to the inhabitants,” the Sarpanch added.
Alleging embezzlement of Government ration by the ration dealer of the area, Local Panch Davinder Kumar demanded investigation into his (ration dealer) working. He said if a fair investigation is not initiated against the ration dealer, then they will intensify their protest and even block the highway.
Panch Ramesh Lal, Panch Ritu Devi, Panch Sat Paul, Raj Kumar, Sarwan Singh Shivkaran and many others were present on the occasion.
