Samba Police works out gold shop theft case

Arrests 3, recovers stolen items worth Rs 10.5 lakh

SAMBA, May 22: In a major breakthrough, Samba police has worked out a gold shop theft case registered at Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana by arresting three accused persons involved in the commission of the crime and recovering stolen Gold and Silver ornaments worth approximately Rs. 10.50 lakh along with cash and other stolen articles from their possession.
Police said on May 12, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station (PS), Bari Brahmana by one person namely Sahil Abrol, son of Raj Kumar of Ward Number 04, Bishnah district Jammu regarding theft of Gold and Silver ornaments, cash, Almirah and other items by some unknown persons from his jewellery shop “Raj Ornaments” situated at Raghunath Bazar, Bari Brahmana near PHE Office during the intervening night of 11/12 May.
Police said acting upon the complaint, a case FIR No. 123/2026 U/S 331(4)/305/317 BNS was registered at Police Station, Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a police team of PS Bari Brahmana after relentless efforts coupled with technical assistance apprehended three suspects who upon sustained questioning confessed their involvement in the instant case. The arrested persons have been identified as Sujal, son of William Masih of Khagote, Ramnagar district Udhampur presently residing at Sainik Colony, Jammu, Akash Nair, son of David Masih of Chatha district Jammu and Neeraj Masih son of Prem Masih of Dogra Hall, Jammu.
Police said on their disclosure, the stolen items including Gold ornaments weighing approximately 14.74 grams, Silver ornaments weighing approximately 2.650 Kgs, one weighing machine, cash of Rs.10000/ and one safe Almirah was recovered from their possession.
Besides, the Santro Car bearing Registration Number, JK02AA-2244 used in the commission of the offence has also been seized by the police. Further investigation of the case is going on, police said.
