SAMBA, Nov 19: Police during its special drive against the illegal sale of tobacco products today seized 1,16,600 pouches of Gutka from a load carrier at NH Vijaypur.
According to a police spokesman the load carrier was without registration number and the Gutka was being transported from Kathua to Jammu for sale.
The spokesman said the auto driver Mohammed Sadiq S/o Sultan Mohammed of Narwal Jammu along with one Sunny Kumar S/o Dharam Pal also of Narwal, Jammu was arrested by the police.
The duo along with the seized material were handed over to Raj Kumar Gupta, Food Inspector of Vijaypur area for further action.
Meanwhile Kathua Police conducted a raid at village Chak Drab Khan in district Kathua and apprehended one Rakesh Kumar S/o Sardari Lal of the same village and seized 90 pouches of Desi liquor from his possession. The police also destroyed 300 liters of Lahan in the area.
A case FIR No 428/2013 U/S 48-A Excise Act stands registered at P/S Kathua against him.
