SAMBA, Feb 13: Samba police has foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal, arrested three bovine smugglers and rescued five bovines from their clutches.
A police spokesman said acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Post (PP) Rajpura of PS Ghagwal foiled bovine smuggling attempt and rescued five bovines which were being smuggled by foot near village Lala Chak. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer location.
He said the bovine smugglers identified as Kewal Chand, son of Jinsi Ram of Laundi tehsil Hiranagar, district Kathua, Sandeep Singh, son of Krishan Singh of Farole, tehsil Ramnagar, district Udhampur and Bishan Dass, son of Charan Dass of Ramnagar district Udhampur have been arrested.
He said a case FIR No. 18/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
