Samba police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 10 animals, seizes truck

SAMBA, June 1:  Continuing its endeavour to thwart the evil designs of the bovine smugglers, district Police Samba foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 10 bovine animals.
A police party of PS  Ghagwal headed by SI Bansi Lal, SHO Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Headquarters Samba, signaled the truck to stop bearing Registration No. JK02U-2587 coming from Kathua side at Naka NHW Tapyal.
The driver on seeing the police party accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot.  As a result of which the driver lost his control and the vehicle got struck with divider at NHW Sandbhari, Jatwal. The driver of vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, 10 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which was being transported illegally without any permission. The vehicle was seized on spot and the bovines were rescued.
In this regard a case FIR No. 86/2018 U/S 188/279 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 184 MV Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started to nab the driver.
