SAMBA, Mar 20: In its continuous drive against the bovine smuggling under the direction of the SSP Samba and under close supervision of DySP Hqrs. Samba, Ghagwal Police this morning foiled a major bid of bovine smuggling.
Police said a team of Ghagwal Police laid a naka on NHW-1A and during checking a truck bearing registration No. JK02AT-7911 which was coming from Kathua side was signaled to stop but driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and ran away towards Ghagwal. The police party acting swiftly chased the vehicle and intercepted the same near Nonath Ashram NHW.
The driver of vehicle fled away leaving the truck behind. On checking 11 oxen were found laden inside the truck. The vehicle and the bovine animals were seized and in this regard a case FIR No. 26/2017 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA, 183/184/179 M.V Act has been registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation is on to nab the driver.
